Restaurant updates & rumors . . .

Senior Insider
1. Many will be happy to know that Les Bananiers is re-opening in “two weeks” (now probably a few days short of that timetable) . . . to be operated, it’s said, by La Petite Colombe.
2. Meanwhile, there’s a credible report that the restaurant’s former operators are preparing to open a food carry-out business.
3. L’Esprit seasonal closing — June 14 to July 28.
4. Le Grain de Sel operator, Eddy Coquin, is hanging-up his apron at end of June . . . reportedly, two young women are taking over the restaurant operation.
5. Planned renovations to Le Sereno’s “Al Mare” restaurant have been scaled-back, leaving it mostly unchanged . . . extensive renovations to rooms / suites are continuing. November re-opening planned.
6. Very sadly, Yo Sushimania will become island legend at the end of June . . . the hotel in which it’s located has been sold, & the report is that the new owner is installing a French (yes! not Italian or Mediterranean!) restaurant there.
7. Unconfirmed rumors of re-opening of the former Chez Gus & Joel Robuchon venues by “corporate” interests.

Bon appétit!

Thanks for the reporting my friend. We stopped at Yo Sushimania on Sunday with the hopes we could do a take out. They were very apologetic and said that while they are normally open on Sunday night, they were closing early due to lack of fish.

Thank you Dennis.
Happy to hear of a new French restaurant.
I will add: Nyama will close after service June 14 and reopen July 1.

At our first stop for baguettes at LPC a couple of weeks ago, we noticed there was activity next door at Les Bananiers. Asked the cashier and she said it was reopening as "Les Bananiers" within a month under new management. I snapped this picture and meant to post it. By the last visit, the blue plastic covering on the lettering had been removed.

Thanks for the info!! I had not heard any of this. You always get the good scoop. :)

Interesting that they will continue to use the name Les Bananiers...

The name must belong to the landlord . . . as I remember was the case with Santa Fe Restaurant.

BTW . . . the report that was told to me of a new carry out business of former Les Bananiers operators included the “fact” that pizza maker extraordinaire, Luigi, will have a home with them in the new business.

Any word on where this carry out business will be located?
