Villa Golden View

Hi Friends—has anyone stayed at Villa Golden View recently? We are staying in St Barts November 16-26 and trying to narrow down our choices :) Thanks!

Dennis Carlton is a true gentleman. He owns CEC which overlooks Marigot Bay. His villa has one of the largest pools on St, Barts. We will be staying there for 10 days from the end of April to the beginning of May. It would be great to meet him some day and take him and his wife to dinner.
You're super kind, Hawke! Thanks for this generous testimonial -- much appreciated, and Wendy and I are very happy to have you and Denise return to CEC anytime that you can get there!

A question about Golden View. While I enjoy the sound of waves crashing on the shore or rocks, I would give that up if I knew a villa up in the hills was fairly mosquito free. Is Golden View far enough up? Perhaps Kim or someone who has stayed there can help.

We are a couple Villas nearby to Gokden View. It has been breezy since past Saturday and we have not seen a single mosquito.

If I recall correctly @CaribbeanSoul may be of help here…
Yes, we have stayed at Golden View twice, in November 2022 and May 2023. We loved the villa and the amazing views over L'Orient. The villa is well built and appointed. Perfect for two people. The outdoor living area and pool are a little smaller than we are accustomed to. There is no outdoor sound system either but we travel with JBL portable speakers. We stayed in the lower BR the first time and the upper BR the 2nd time. Loved the upper BR with the amazing views. Great location and easy parking with a garage. The villa faces north so if you want early sun, that isn't going to happen until about 11AM in the winter months and the sunset is partially obscured. The summer months offer more and better sun exposure and sunsets are in full view. You really can't go wrong with GV.

No major mosquito issues the two times we stayed there. Not entirely skeeter free as the trades don't typically blow at GV. Our stays above Le Toiny have been pretty much mosquito free due to the trade winds.

I think elevation is a factor, for sure. But, orientation and unobstructed exposition to les Alizés is paramount.
