. . . not as wonderful, but here’s another scene — a bit earlier in the evening.

While visiting in this Lorient cemetery — the newer one, on ocean side of the road — I encountered a local friend who is a senior, lifelong island resident. Rather movingly, I thought . . . he carried a large sack of candles, depositing & lighting them on graves where none had been left.

How thoughtful and kind. The traditional Toussant cemetery observance always touched my soul. Thanks for these photos

One of the prayer intentions at mass this morning was for those souls who have no one to pray for them. Very sad.

He’s that kind of guy . . . who does things selflessly, for many. The “old St. Barths“ way!

The kids and I stopped and said a Hail Mary at each grave Saturday night at both Lorient Cemeteries that did not have a candle or someone to pray for their soul.
