I agree with your comments about Hitler, but that was a different situation. Germany had officially declared war against the United States. The US occupied Germany post WWII following an official agreement with our European allies. Even then, there were tragic implications for Berlin that lasted for decades.

I don't get this backlash about the prez being in South America while Libya is "burning." He's the prez, with a million things on his agenda. Libya is just another bump in the road. Maintaining decent relationships with our southern neighbors is a good, long term move.
