Enjoying Le Creperie . . . quiet, like Gustavia

Arriving SBH early afternoon last Wednesday, not only were there few visitors on the island, but the traditional closing of businesses for Wednesday afternoons meant that it seemed to be deserted. So, rather than heading directly to Villa CEC, Wendy & I chose a drive through Gustavia to see what was going on there. The answer was “nothing!“ A few people at Le Select & at Bar de L’Oubli. Otherwise, you could have fired the proverbial cannon down any street & not hit a soul! It was very reminiscent of “ol’ St. Barths.” Full of nostalgic memories of nearly 50 years ago.

Being a bit hungry, we decided to visit a favorite old haunt, “Le Creperie” . . . just up the street from Le Select. I enjoyed a vegetarian Galette, & Wendy loved a savory sugar Crepe (Galette’s are made with Buckwheat flour, which is GF). The restaurant is charmingly simple . . . with us, as the only guests in the late afternoon, appreciating the modesty in its fare & ambiance. (It’s no longer, BTW, the bargain restaurant that it once was (what on SBH is?), but still is refreshing & very comfortable.)

Always one of my favorites. Enjoy your lovely quiet time.
Merci, Rosemary! . . . a quiet time right now & much savored! With the Gourmet Festival only a couple of weeks away, however, I can see arrivals ramping-up daily. (At “Mamo“ tonight, for example, there’s a group of eleven, & another of eight, (quite loud. IMO) Americans! . . . as well as assorted tables of 2 & 4.) It’s also an opportune period for annual maintenance, repairs, & upgrades at Villa CEC — to which, I admit that, I’m a weak contributor, Wendy being more handy than I am!
