If no boarding pass outbound to the US do I have to exit and re-enter the airport?

I had a really difficult time getting a boarding pass (I eventually got it at the airport) to SXM from the States. United's system was overwhelmed w the different requirements.

If I can't get my United boarding pass before I leave SBH would I have to exit the airport and renter (to get to the United counter)? Meaning I'm no longer considered a transit passenger.

Thanks!!!

Are there transit passengers through sxm to us? Wouldn’t you show them you commuter ticket anyway, if you had to show them one? I’m confused

From my experience with American Airlines, last July, yes. We were still considered a transit passenger (not staying in SXM) as for the EHAS, just could not go directly to the gate, but had to check in with AA, show proof of COVID negative tests and receive our boarding passes.

I’m also a bit confused by the OP.

On the flight from the US to SXM, why did you need a printed boarding pass? Do you not have a phone to use? I have not needed a printed boarding pass for a flight leaving the US to SXM in years. Have not flown United to SXM, but on our Delta flight we were able to load the EHAS form on line and get the boarding passes downloaded to our phones.

On the other hand SXM does not use electronic boarding passes on phones. You need a physical copy. In the pre-Irma days, there was a kiosk in the in transit area that you could use to print one or you could go to the villa managing agent office to print one before leaving SBH. That’s what I’m planning on doing. If you can’t do that and need to exit and go to the main ticket counter, you will still be in transit.

The wierdest thing just happened.

I was able to get a boarding pass from SXM to the US (tomorrow) without giving United my neg test results. Perhaps they are implementing it the no test rule ahead of Sunday?

"There are currently no testing or vaccine requirements for this trip."

Anyone else have this experience?
