making an example....a fine idea, if you ask me!!!

excuse me chop- all he did was run on a baseball field- not a major crime in anyone's book

all i see is a person disobeying the law. i don't know what his motives are. i don't know that he doesn't have a death wish or wishes death on others that he may very well be attempting to commit. in this day and age, who can be trusted? the kid running onto the baseball field? the guy who randomly parks his SUV in times square? the guy who leaves his ryder truck parked near the federal building in oklahoma city? the guy who boards an airplane on september 11, 2001?

....i'm just sayin!

Dont Tase me Bro!

Talk about a stretch- this is a 17 year old kid in jeans. I guess you never been to a baseball game.

Not her point. Ever been to Times Sq?

Re: Dont Tase me Bro!

Stop it. Spitting on the sidewalk is a crime too or speeding or a lot of non-violent things. This was done in front of 45,000 people including a lot of little kids. There is a such a thing as common sense or maybe cops don't possess that mentality.

unfortunately most crimes are done in the presence of others so there's no getting around what innocent bystanders witness. look closely at timothy mcveigh. looks like every other young american white guy, right? also, this fella was running from the authorities....almost like he's baiting them to take action.

i stand by my point in appreciating the action taken.

This kid was SURROUNDED by 5 security guards. He wasn't going anywhere.

Re: Dont Tase me Bro!

It's hard for any of us to say. None of us were chasing the kid. I've been in law enforcement for 30 years. I may have tased the kid, if my department's policy said I could. Sitting in my arm chair I think it would have been more fun to chase him into a corner, tackle him in a big mass of security and drag him feet first back to a door...... I can hear the crowd cheering now,, for him or the security is a toss up....

It's not the same as all the really bad things folks are talking about here. It's a kid running around the field at a ball game...

I'm with Missy. They should have shot the guy. You never can tell. When in doubt, shoot to kill. That's what I always say.

Re: Dont Tase me Bro!

Obviously those talking all this trash, about a kid jumping the fence and running around the field, have never really experienced death. A policeman knocking on your door to tell you bad news. I'm not talking about your aging mother, or cancer ridden brother dying in a home. I have done it one time more than I care to have. A son, daughter, mom or dad not coming home. You joke about some kid running across a ball field like it was the end all.

It's just a cocktail party joke to you?. I have a few pictures in my mind that could easily make most of you throw up.

So what the cop was fat. Most of you making the comment should look in the mirror. How far could you have chased him? He was what, 17? Damn, I am in good shape, run all the time, and I couldn't have caught him ! Get your lame ass out there and catch a 17 year old!!!!!!

You can't shoot the kid for running the field!

I know some of you are just passing time in here on this topic out there to make others throw jabs at this.... Some of it's funny, some is just down right stupid. I seem to like all of you, but you are really pushing it on this. The discussion on the NY incident went no where. Hardly a peep. A kid running across the field has you killing kids, crucifying over weight cops and acting like you are holier than us all.......

Jeese, it's no freaking wonder I carry a gun 24/7 !!!!

Sorry Fred,,, I attached it to the end of the line here,,,, ......

On a less serious note, ESPN was reporting this afternoon that the second guy who ran onto the field (Thorobred, the one who twittered but can't spell), had a dime bag in his pocket when he was arrested. How dumb is that!?

It's an ongoing trend--stupid people doing stupid things. Sometimes there is a lot of competition for the Darwin Awards.

And to hopefully end this, the Phillies announced that cops will no longer go on the ballfield to apprehend crashers unless specifically asked for. The Phillies were obviously embarrassed by all the attention this got as this is not the image they want- they are a classy organization and don't need this agita.

Some kid does a dumb thing and the team is embarassed?

Might want to think about replacing the warning track w a moat. Be fun to watch long fly balls, too....
